The queen of minimalist textiles

Vibeke Klint (1927–2019) was the queen of minimalist textiles, known for her simple, graphic style. Her rugs, textiles, and site-specific decorations had a profound impact on Danish textile art, and she is today regarded as a significant contribution to Danish design history. 

Passion defined Vibeke Klint’s life and work. The Danish textile artist was deeply devoted to weaving, colour, and the expressive power of craft. She believed textiles could be both functional and artistic—and through her passion, she elevated textile art to a new level.

Stelton Soft Home introduces textiles into the home with a collection of bedding and placemats inspired by original weaving samples from Vibeke Klint’s archive. Rooted in her remarkable design legacy, the Stelton Soft Home collection bridges classic craftsmanship with contemporary Scandinavian aesthetics, rediscovering timeless techniques through a modern lens infused with an unexpected edge.

At the core of the collection are Klint’s original winding samples—intimate compositions of thread and colour that capture her poetic approach to form and rhythm. With great care, Stelton has reinterpreted selected works, honouring Klint’s artistry while creating a new visual narrative defined by bold contrasts and subtle statements.

Staying true to Vibeke Klint’s original work, the placemats draw directly from weaving samples found in her archive. Her remarkable sense of craftsmanship, colour and rhythm is carefully carried into the designs.

Recycled materials

Made from 75% recycled PET, 22% recycled OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified cotton and 3% viscose, the woven material has a soft, tactile feel and is easy to care for. The placemats protect the table while adding warmth, texture and a calm expression to everyday settings.

Every Stelton design is created with a long life in mind. Spare parts and thoughtful care help preserve both form and function, allowing materials to age beautifully and our products to be enjoyed for longer. With a few simple care routines, your Soft Home pieces can remain part of everyday life for years to come.

Soft Home Bedding

Daily use / Air your bedding regularly to help keep it feeling fresh. Avoid unnecessary washing to help preserve the softness and colour of the cotton over time.

Maintenance / Machine wash at a maximum of

60 °C with similar colours. If possible, air dry naturally to reduce unnecessary wear. Avoid bleach and bleaching detergents.

If needed / Tumble dry when needed. For stains, treat and wash as soon as possible. As cotton is a natural fibre, some shrinkage is expected. The fabric may shrink by up to 5% in total.


Soft Home Placemats

Daily use / Remove crumbs and light dirt after use. Wipe or gently spot-clean small spills when possible to keep the woven surface looking fresh.

Maintenance / For regular cleaning, machine wash at a maximum of 40 °C.

Air dry naturally to help preserve the shape and tactile quality. Do not tumble dry.

If needed / For more persistent stains, wash promptly and avoid harsh or abrasive cleaning products that may damage the fibres.
